The Kalevi Yacht Club’s new marina building has won the title “Concrete Building of the Year 2024”!
This project brought to life the long-held dreams of many people—both current and future sailors—while also transforming the Pirita and Kalevi Yacht Clubs into more modern facilities.
A total of 12 nominees were submitted for the “Concrete Building of the Year 2024” competition. Among them were two MARU projects: the Kalevi Yacht Club marina building and the Enefit 280-2 chemical plant. Maru Betoonitööd OÜ received the Äripäev Construction News Special Award for its concrete work on the Enefit 280-2 project and the buildings of the Security Police Board.
This year’s winning entry—the Kalevi Yacht Club marina building—skillfully combines wood and concrete architecture, blending seamlessly into the existing environment. This is true of both the interior and exterior design. One of the building’s most distinctive features is the incorporation of old sails into the casting molds for the exterior reinforced concrete elements. In this way, the club members’ sail surfaces have been immortalized alongside the KJK logo on the building’s reinforced concrete facade.
