The construction contract was signed on August 7, and work may begin as early as the end of August. The expansion is being designed by Norte OÜ, and the architectural design is being prepared by Loob Projekt OÜ.
The launch of the new production lines is scheduled for early 2028. The total investment amounts to over 70 million euros, of which 20 million euros will be invested this year.
According to Margo Dengo, CEO of Maru Ehituse, this is not only a significant investment in total, but also, in terms of the construction contract, a project of considerable scale in the Estonian construction market. “The area to be expanded is approximately 13,000m2, and in fact, we are reconstructing most of the existing building to a greater or lesser extent. This is a design-build contract,” he explained,
“The Kohila plant has significantly exceeded its originally planned production capacity. Thanks to our strong and experienced team, we see the plant’s expansion as the logical next step to increase efficiency, expand our product portfolio, and improve our financial performance,” added Andres Laht, a member of the management board of Kohila Vineer.

Given the recent uncertainty surrounding Estonia’s forestry policy and its impact on the company’s field of activity, Kohila Vineer will not increase its use of roundwood in Estonia as a result of the expansion and plans to source veneer produced in other European Union countries in the region as an additional raw material, the company announced.
Kohila Vineer does not foresee an increase in timber consumption in Estonia and, due to the uncertainty surrounding Estonia’s current forestry policy and its impact on the company’s operating environment, plans to rely on sawn timber sourced from other countries in the region.
