MDSC Systems, a subsidiary of the Maru Group, received an operating license for its new factory in Männiku, Tallinn, which primarily manufactures mobile solutions for the defense industry.
The 8,000 m² factory, which was completed last fall, manufactures mobile solutions under the Maru Defence and Rolling Unit brands, which are used primarily by defense, medical, rescue, environmental, and sports teams around the world. The modern factory building allows MDSC Systems—which exports the majority of its production—to expand manufacturing and devote more resources to product development.
“Our new plant was designed and built as a custom-made production facility, with our specific needs and work processes taken into account during the planning phase,” explained Kristjan Kamdron, CEO of MDSC Systems. “We were able to implement modern technologies and expand the company’s capabilities, including adding wet painting as a surface finishing step to the production process, establish a modern welding hall, and create specialized testing areas.”
In addition to its modern production facilities, the building constructed by Maru Ehituse stands out for its energy efficiency. A geothermal heating and cooling system is used to heat and cool the building, covering the entire floor area of the production facilities. In addition, energy-efficient technologies have been implemented, and the building also uses electricity generated by installed solar panels to meet its energy needs.
In October, the new factory received a major order when the State Defense Investment Center (RKIK) and MDSC Systems and Maru Metall, as joint bidders, signed a seven-year framework agreement for the procurement of mobile field hospitals and mobile medical stations for the Estonian and Lithuanian defense forces, with a total value of up to 150 million euros.
The First Project at Raku Business Park
The factory is the first fully completed building in the Raku Business Park, owned by the Maru Group, which comprises a total of 11 commercialand industrial plots with valid detailed plans for companies seeking new manufacturing, warehouse, and commercial space in Tallinn.
What sets Raku Business Park apart from many other modern business parks is its excellent access to public transportation, which makes it easier for companies to recruit and retain employees. In addition, the Tallinn Ring Road provides quick access to all major highways.
Maru offers “turnkey” solutions to business park tenants. In April, Maru Ehitus signed a contract with VBH Estonia to design and build a new flagship building in the business park. The company will design and construct a modern warehouse and logistics complex spanning nearly 4,000 m², complete with a salesshowroom and office and amenity spaces.
