The first tender conducted to select a contractor for the design and construction of a permanent indoor soccer arena had to be declared unsuccessful because the bids were too expensive. The scope of the work was subsequently reduced, and in the new tender, five companies submitted bids, of which AS Maru Ehitus was selected as the successful bidder.
On February 19, a contract for the construction work was signed at the Paide artificial turf stadium, the site of the future arena.
According to Kaido Ivaski, the mayor of Paide, this is a very significant investment that will benefit both the city of Paide and the entire Järva County. “The indoor arena is absolutely essential to ensure that the nearly 500 young soccer players in our county have training conditions on par with those of players in other counties. Schools will be able to use the hall for physical education classes, and it will also be possible to host various competitions and events there; if necessary, it can even be used for dance festival rehearsals when the weather doesn’t allow for outdoor practice. “In addition, training conditions for other sports clubs will improve, as they will be able to use the time slots that become available in the sports hall,” explained Ivask.
Margo Dengo, Chairman of the Board of AS Maru Ehitus: “At Maru Ehitus, sustainability is important to us, including the sustainability of people, which can be extended to society as a whole: A healthy, functioning population ensures a sustainable Estonia. We always hold sports in high regard at our company—whether by participating ourselves, supporting them, or happily building sports facilities. That is why we are delighted to be a partner in the design and construction of a Maru indoor soccer arena in the heart of Estonia.”
Construction is scheduled to begin in late May, and the soccer arena is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
