Maru to manufacture and install steel structures for the Patola heating plant in Helsinki

In the coming months, Maru Metall will produce the steel structures and cladding for the Patola heating plant project in Helsinki, with Maru THM handling the installation. This large-scale project was commissioned by the Finnish energy group Helen OY.

The Patola heating plant complex is scheduled to become operational during the next heating season. It is a technologically significant project featuring an industrial-scale heat pump and two 50 MW electric boilers. The air-to-water heat pump plant being constructed is one of the largest in the world – designed to operate in outdoor temperatures as low as -20°C, utilizing carbon dioxide (CO2) as a natural refrigerant.

This project further builds upon our extensive experience in manufacturing and installing steel structures for the Finnish energy sector.

The list of Finnish heating plants featuring Maru-produced steel structures is substantial, ranging from Leppävirta and Turenki to Turku, Lahti, and Imatra. The Patola project confirms the capability of Maru’s units to deliver complex solutions in a demanding international market.
