The construction contract was signed on August 7, and work may begin as early as the end of August. The expansion will be designed by Norte O\u00dc, while the architectural solution will be prepared by Loob Projekt O\u00dc.<\/p>\n

The new production lines are scheduled to be commissioned at the beginning of 2028. The total investment exceeds \u20ac70 million, of which \u20ac20 million will be invested already this year.<\/p>\n

According to Margo Dengo, CEO of Maru Ehitus, the contract is highly significant in the Estonian construction market, both in terms of the overall investment and the value of the construction contract.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe expanded section will cover approximately 13,000 m\u00b2, and in fact, most of the existing building will also be reconstructed to a greater or lesser extent. This is a design-build contract,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Kohila plant has significantly exceeded its originally designed production capacity. Thanks to our strong and experienced team, we see the expansion of the plant as the logical next step in increasing efficiency, broadening the product portfolio and improving business performance,\u201d added Andres Laht, Member of the Management Board of Kohila Vineer.<\/p>\n

We greatly appreciate Kohila Vineer\u2019s trust in choosing us, approximately ten years later, once again as their partner in expanding production and supporting their growth. From an engineering perspective, this is a highly complex project: it involves timber, steel and concrete structures, sophisticated technical systems and, above all, constructing the expansion beneath, above and around an operational production facility,\u201d said Margo Dengo, CEO of Maru Ehitus.<\/p>\n

Considering the recent uncertainty surrounding Estonian forestry policy and its impact on the company\u2019s field of activity, Kohila Vineer will not increase its consumption of roundwood in Estonia as a result of the expansion. Instead, the company plans to source additional raw material in the form of veneer produced in other European Union countries in the region, the company announced.<\/p>\n

Kohila Vineer does not expect its consumption of logs in Estonia to increase and, due to the current uncertainty surrounding Estonian forestry policy and its impact on the operating environment, plans to rely on peeled wood raw material sourced from other countries in the region.<\/p>\n

Kohila Vineer produces birch veneer and plywood. With more than 200 employees, the company is the largest employer in Rapla County. Founded in 2011, the company is a subsidiary of the Latvijas Finieris Group.<\/p>\n
